A Day in the Life...

Do you ever wonder what a homeschooler's day looks like? Well, here's how our first official day of school started...The girls in the school room with BOOK COVERS on their heads taking a picture of themselves :0)

Golf Anyone?

We took the kids to Ben & Ari's on Sunday as kind of a "farewell to summer - time for school to really kick in" evening out. Kiley & Josh had never played, so it was fun, and they were actually really good. I think Josh got a hole-in-one on his 4th hole!

Brittany, on the other hand, won the award for most balls in the water :0)

Sydney and Moriah were too busy in the arcade to play golf!

Living Dangerously

It occurred to me a few weeks ago that Joshua was "living dangerously" by riding his bike WITH his training wheels ON. He was riding so fast and turning corners so sharp, that I just knew he was going to tip his bike.

Brittany, being the good big sister that she is, decided to "teach" both of the kids to ride their bikes without the training wheels this past weekend. (She even went and bought helmets for them :0) Anyway, Brit removed the training wheels and told Joshua to wait while she explained to Kiley what she needed to do. As she was helping Kiley, Joshua rode past on his bike! I guess he didn't really need any teaching! Kiley caught on almost as quickly. Here they are proudly riding their bikes like big kids!

Back in the groove...

Ok, so we're not in "the groove" yet, but we're kicking it off today!

My day started bright and early by taking Brittany to school at 7:00 AM! This is way to early to be leaving for school!

It was Kiley's turn next. Her bus came at a more reasonable hour!

As always, Kiley had something interesting to say today. Here's how our breakfast conversation went:

Me: You still have time left, so why don't you go brush your teeth before school. I'm sure your teacher would appreciate it. Plus, didn't we just read how you should brush your teeth at least twice a day?

Kiley: You haven't brushed your teeth. (They learn this diversion tactic early, don't they?)

Me: No (actually I had, but I had forgotten since it happened at 6:30 AM while I was half asleep), but I always brush them in the morning, especially before I go somewhere.

Kiley: Well, I'm just a different woman!

Where does she come up with this stuff?

Joshua went to his first "unofficial" day of kindergarten this afternoon. It was an orientation, so his first real day will be tomorrow. He's very excited to stay in his new class longer and ride the bus home!
